San Angelo Launches City Progress Report Webpage

SAN ANGELO, TX — The City of San Angelo has launched a new City Progress Report webpage highlighting departmental accomplishments, ongoing projects and future priorities. 

The report provides updates across city operations and outlines challenges as well as future investment needs facing the organization, according to information from the city.

In an introductory message on the new webpage, Mayor Tom Thompson said city staff continues to improve efficiency, strengthen services, manage aging infrastructure and stretch taxpayer dollars while demands on the city outpace revenues. 

Thompson pointed to the city’s flood response as an example of strong teamwork among staff, first responders, volunteers, utilities, public works, law enforcement and Tom Green County. 

“San Angelo set the standard for flood response, recovery and communication because our people were empowered to do their jobs,” he stated. 

He also noted rising infrastructure costs and growing expectations for city services, calling economic development essential to expand the tax base and ease the burden on homeowners and small-business owners. Thompson said the city will continue investigating opportunities to lower property taxes and base decisions on facts, consistency and fairness.
