Chamber of Commerce Welcomes New Metalwork Business to San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting for a new budding metalwork business Tuesday morning.

Angelo Laser Metal Works, 906 W. 14th St., specializes in decorative and ornamental metalwork for tasks that may be too small or too specialized for larger fabrication shops.

Mr. Heim uses a 1,200-watt industrial laser and computer numerical control machine with a 36-inch by 54-inch cutting bed designed specifically for metal fabrication. The company focuses on cutting and fabricating metals less than one-half inch thick to make signs and other specialized custom jobs for decorative and ornamental metalwork.

Members of the Chamber and the Concho Cadres welcomed owner and operator Lawrence Heim and gave him a chance to talk about his work.

Among the custom products the company manufactures are gate art, business signs, custom mailboxes and address posts, light fixtures, brackets, trophies, artwork, replacement metal parts and flat-pack barbecue grills. Several products are available with optional LED backlighting.

In addition to fabricating finished products, the company also offers prototype development services for inventors, businesses and customers developing new products. Customers can provide a drawing or photograph of a design, which is converted into a computer file before a proof is created for review and approval prior to production. Those without a completed design can choose from an existing library of patterns or work with the company to create a custom design.

Heim said he began his work in San Angelo back in January this year, after a 40-year career in welding and other metalwork.

I wonder if it will employ real bearded dwarves, like in "Lord of the Rings?"
