Giraffe Reported Missing in Texas Hill Country

LEAKEY, TX — A giraffe reported missing in the Texas Hill Country is being sought by its owners, who are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the animal’s safe return.

The Real County Animal Rescue-Shelter said in a social media post Monday that Cedar Hollow Ranch is searching for “Gracie,” a giraffe last seen west of Leakey in Real County, about 60 miles south of Junction.

According to the post, Gracie has rounded ears and was recently captured on a game camera in the area. The ranch owner is offering a reward for information that results in the giraffe’s capture and return.

Anyone who spots the giraffe or has information about her whereabouts is asked to contact ranch manager Vick Jones at 830-279-5822 or the Real County Sheriff’s Office at 830-232-5201.

Authorities did not specify how long Gracie has been missing.

The news of the missing giraffe has gone viral on social media, with one man posting that Gracie was safe with him after using AI to generate an image of him and the giraffe drinking a beer together.
