Darby Announces 2026 Reelection Campaign

SAN ANGELO, TX - Texas State Representative Drew Darby has officially announced his 2026 reelection campaign for the Texas House of Representatives.

Darby, who has represented District 72 since 2007, said he is seeking another term to continue advancing priorities for West Texas and the Concho Valley. According to his campaign announcement, he has received endorsements from President Donald Trump, Governor Greg Abbott, Speaker Dustin Burrows, Congressmen August Pfluger and Jodey Arrington, and Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham.

In his announcement, Darby highlighted legislative achievements including:

  • Protecting Families and Camp Safety: Authored HB 1, the Youth CAMPER Act, and sponsored SB 1, the Heaven’s 27 Camp Safety Act, creating the strongest camp safety standards in Texas history.

  • Strengthening Rural Communities: Secured $8 billion for schools and teacher pay raises, and expanded homestead exemptions for families and seniors.

  • Defending West Texas: Passed laws strengthening anti–oilfield theft penalties, improving wildfire protections, and banning hostile foreign ownership of farmland.

  • Investing in Rural Growth: Directed over $1 billion toward rural water infrastructure and expanded financial aid for cotton, wool, and other agricultural producers.

“I am proud of the progress we have made, but our work is far from over,” Darby said. “With your support, I will continue fighting every day to deliver results that keep the Concho Valley and West Texas strong for generations to come.”

The Texas State House election is scheduled to take place on Nov. 3, 2026, coinciding with the federal midterm elections.

Will he do anything about the monopoly that Shannon has created and the resulting long term waits to see a specialist ? How about the low ratings of the SAISD?
