Marine 'Seriously Injured' at Goodfellow AFB

SAN ANGELO, TX — A U.S. Marine assigned to the 17th Training Wing at Goodfellow Air Force Base was seriously injured on base Thursday night, according to a statement from base officials. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.

The confirmation came Friday from 17th Training Wing Public Affairs following reports of a sudden closure of the base’s South Gate and Visitor Control Center. Officials said the closure began at 7 p.m. Thursday and was expected to last 24 hours.

During the closure, all personnel and visitors were directed to use the North Gate, which was temporarily processing visitor passes. The base warned of extended wait times during the disruption, though the Commercial Inspection Area remained open.

Base officials have not released further details about the Marine’s injury or whether the gate closure was directly related to the incident.
