Fugitive Captured After More Than a Year on the Run in Coke County

ROBERT LEE, TX — After more than a year of evading law enforcement, Cristina Santos, also known as Cristina Garivay, was apprehended on May 13, 2025, by the Coke County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies located Santos after receiving a credible tip about her possible location. Although they were initially given false information, including a claim that Santos had recently been taken to San Antonio, an arrest warrant was issued and executed.

While serving the warrant, Sheriff Wayne Williams noticed suspicious movement beneath the residence. Deputies determined Santos was hiding in the crawl space. Deputy Hernandez entered the confined space and made contact with Santos, while Sheriff Williams, Deputy Eudy, and Deputy Lopez secured the perimeter and established additional access points.

Santos, 50, was booked into the Tom Green County Jail at 4:21 p.m. on charges of burglary of habitation and resisting arrest. Her bond was set at $40,000.

Another individual, Jeremy Thomas, 47, was also arrested and charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution of a known felon. His bond was set at $35,000.

Deputy Hernandez was evaluated by EMS as a precaution and released on scene. No injuries were reported.

Officials commended the deputies for their professionalism and teamwork in safely resolving the situation.
