SAN ANGELO, TX — The Texas Education Agency released its 2022–2023 academic accountability ratings on Thursday, assigning San Angelo ISD an overall rating of “D” — a result the district says was affected by a reporting error.
Superintendent Dr. Christopher Moran stated that grade data from Lake View High School’s spring 2022 semester was inadvertently not included in the submission to TEA, resulting in an incomplete dataset. Based on the data submitted, San Angelo ISD received a score of 68 out of 100. Lake View High School was rated an “F.”
Moran said that if the omitted data had been included, the district would have received a “C,” and Lake View High School would have been rated a “D.” The district is now appealing the rating and has submitted corrected data to TEA.
"Upon discovering the error, the district implemented updated safeguards to include targeted checkpoints for data verification involving multiple departments, which now occur numerous times each school year," information from the school district stated.
The TEA ratings, which reflect performance from the 2022–2023 school year, had not been released until now due to ongoing litigation involving the state’s accountability system, according to a press release by the TEA. Ratings for the 2023–2024 school year have not been issued, and the next release is scheduled for August 2025.
According to Moran, the district has made several adjustments since the 2022–2023 school year, including aligning instructional resources, increasing instructional time, and adding support for both students and teachers.
Under TEA’s accountability system, overall ratings are based on student achievement, school progress, and closing performance gaps.

Looks like the fine folks at the SAISD could spend more time bringing the students up to level than trying to squeeze more money from the taxpayers...................................
