San Angelo Under Severe Thunderstorm Watch

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for 21 counties across West Texas, including Tom Green, Sterling, Glasscock, Midland, Ector, and Irion counties. The watch is in effect until 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to start along U.S. Highway 385 after 4 p.m. and move east through the evening. Some of these storms could become severe, producing large hail up to golf ball size, damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, and locally heavy rainfall. While the tornado threat remains low, forecasters say an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

Cities under the watch include San Angelo, Christoval, Mertzon, Sterling City, Big Spring, Midland, and others throughout the Concho Valley, Permian Basin, and South Plains.
