AUSTIN, TX — The Austin Fire Department is investigating a house explosion Sunday morning that injured six people while destroying the residence and damaging 24 neighboring properties.
Officials still haven’t determined why the two-story house, located at 10410 Double Spur Loop in northwest Austin, exploded at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
Residents in Austin and surrounding communities reported hearing it.
AFD Division Chief Wayne Parrish described the home as "leveled to the ground," and said a neighboring house suffered severe collapse damage.
EMS said two people from the residence that exploded were listed in critical and serious but stable conditions. A third person from the neighboring house is also in critical condition.
Another person with minor complaints refused transport from the scene.
EMS also treated two firefighters for minor injuries, one of whom was taken to the hospital.
Power was out in the area due to power lines being damaged by the explosion, but it has since been restored.
Officials stated there was no gas service to the residence that exploded. They also denied rumors of a plane crash or law enforcement activity being involved in the incident.

Sounds like a meth or extract house got relocated to the dump. Which is exactly where it belongs. Glad neighboring homeowners are safe minus the one in critical.
