Hunter Biden to Plead Guilty to Federal Tax Charges

LOS ANGELES, CA — Hunter Biden plans to plead guilty to federal tax charges, his attorney said in federal court Thursday.

Biden had initially pleaded not guilty but made the last-minute change as the trial began in Los Angeles with jury selection.

The son of President Joe Biden will now avoid a trial just months after he was convicted of gun charges.

In the tax case, Hunter Biden has been charged with three felonies and six misdemeanors concerning $1.4 million in owed taxes that have since been paid.

Special counsel David Weiss alleged that Biden "spent millions of dollars on an extravagant lifestyle rather than paying his tax bills."

Weiss said that Biden "willfully failed to pay his 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 taxes on time, despite having access to funds to pay some or all of these taxes.”

Sentencing for his conviction on gun charges is set for Nov. 13. He faces up to 25 years in prison, though he is likely to get far less time or avoid prison altogether as a first-time offender.
