ANDREWS, TX — The mother of an Andrews boy who was killed Wednesday morning in a hit-and-run has created a GoFundMe to help with funeral and memorial costs.
Vincent Hill, 6, was struck by a vehicle at about 6 a.m. Wednesday and left in the road until another motorist saw him.
Officers and EMS arrived and provided life-saving measures. He was transported to Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Vincent’s mother wrote about the incident in the GoFundMe:
“Around 6 am on August 14th, Vincent woke up extra early and got his bouncy balls and decided to go play in the backyard on the trampoline just taking full advantage of the last day of summer break. We believe that his ball rolled out and he went after it into the street. Someone hit Vincent with their vehicle, and just left him there bleeding out in the street. They left him out in the street to die, alone and scared. Vincent was found with his favorite blanket with him, and the ball off to the side of the yard. My only son, Vincent, is now forever 6 years old. Vincent’s sister, Violet (7), is beyond devastated and in complete shock.
“I never imagined that we’d have to plan my child’s funeral, but unfortunately it’s something we have to do now. Please pray for my family, pray the police are able to find the person who left my sweet boy alone in the street.
“Thank you so much to the police who are doing everything possible to find the person who done this and the paramedics who responded quickly, thank you to the hospital staff who did everything they could to try to save my son. Of course thank you as well for the compassion the community has shown us during this horrific tragedy.”
The Andrews Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance with:

The incident is believed to have happened between 6 a.m. and 6:04 a.m.

I think anyone leaving the scene of an accident after hitting a pedestrian should get a mandatory 5 years without parole, if death happens then 20 years, if it's a child then life and no parole. The F...ing lowlifes that do this don't deserve any mercy.

PermalinkI also think that anyone who commits a crime even simply brandishing any kind of weapon whether it be bladed, a cudgel-type weapon, or a firearm serve at the very least five years. Actually using such a thing on a victim warrants at least ten years.
