Texas DPS Announces August’s Featured Fugitive

 

AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Department of Public Safety has announced that Omar David Zavala, 30, a criminal illegal immigrant from El Salvador, has been named the Featured Fugitive for August.

The department has increased the reward for information leading to his arrest to $4,000 if the tip is received during the month of August.

Zavala, who has been wanted since 2022 out of Harris County, is sought on charges including sexual assault, terroristic threat, and obstruction/retaliation. Described as 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 180 pounds, Zavala also has a tattoo on his right forearm.

The reward is part of a program funded by Governor Greg Abbott’s Public Safety Office, which offers cash rewards for tips that lead to arrests.

To be eligible for cash rewards, tipsters MUST provide information to authorities using one of the following three methods:
