SAN ANGELO, TX — Lake Nasworthy produced its first ShareLunker in more than a year when Wall's Slade Smith caught an 8.04-pound bass June 21, 2024.
It was only the sixth ShareLunker recorded at Lake Nasworthy since 2018 and the first since San Angelo's Trey James pulled a 8.35-pounder from the lake June 5, 2023.
Smith's catch continued an impressive recent trend for Concho Valley anglers, who have caught seven of the last 11 ShareLunkers recorded by Texas Parks and Wildlife.
The other six were all caught at O.H. Ivie — five by Lonnie Hamil of Millersview and one by Wes Williams of San Angelo.
O.H. Ivie has produced 349 ShareLunkers since 2020.
Since 1986, the TPWD's Toyota ShareLunker program has been partnering with anglers to promote and enhance bass fishing in Texas.
Anglers who reel in any largemouth bass at least 8 pounds or 24 inches can participate by entering their lunker catch information. Complete entry requirements online or in the new ShareLunker mobile app during the year-long season (January 1 through December 31).
All confirmed ShareLunker participants will receive a Catch Kit corresponding to their fish's weight class. Each Catch Kit includes an achievement decal, merchandise and other giveaways. Plus, everyone who enters will be included in a grand prize drawing to win a $5,000 shopping spree and other prizes. Anglers who donate their 13-pound or larger bass for spawning will be entered in an additional drawing to win a $5,000 shopping spree, VIP access to the Toyota ShareLunker Annual Awards event and other prizes.

I fish that lake weekly and 8 lbers are fairly normal in the right spot (no I won't tell you where), but it's still a nice catch.
