SAN ANGELO, TX— Chaos erupted as the Fourth of July festivities and fireworks began and so have the fires as one blaze, and eventually others, spread at Foster Park near Dove Creek.
The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Dove Creek Volunteer Fire Department dispatched to engines to the north side Foster Park on FM 2335. Firefighters were seen working to extinguish the blaze as other individuals in the park continued to fire off fireworks.
Individuals at Foster Park continued to shoot off fireworks as first responders were working. Reporters on scene also stated that there are several little fires that were popping up.
Multiple fires forced Dove Creek to dispatch at least four engines to assist in putting out the flames.
Although the Concho Valley has seen rain within the last two week, the ground and grass are still extremely dry, only adding additional fuel to any embers or fireworks that land close to them.
It's also worth noting that Shawn Nanny, the Tom Green County Commissioner for Precinct 4, was en route to Foster Park.

Takes real mental giants to shoot off fireworks when it hasn’t rained in weeks! Real smart.

PermalinkAgain we can blame our city and county officials. We've been under burn ban long enough that they should have banned sales of firework ordinance like they previously have. They are very lucky no major fires were started. One day they'll end up starting something that our piddly wink fire stations wont be able to handle.

PermalinkThe unofficial barrio fireworks show was pulled off without a hitch despite all the dry grass and anxious pitbulls.

PermalinkBurn ban means no campfires but go ahead and shoot off all the flaming gunpowder your little hearts desire.
Morons in charge of our city and county.
Probably the same morons shooting off their little poppers.
