Employee Was Arrested

SAN ANGELO, TX — We are known for reporting arrests and this incident is no different. One of our reporters and on-the-air personalities, Matt Cutrer, was arrested this afternoon for possession of drugs. We do not know the details of the arrest as we found out after the courts had closed for the day.

Matt is currently being held in the Tom Green County Detention Center awaiting arraignment. Usually, arrests like these are on our early morning booking report, and this one will be, but I wanted to be transparent about the situation early.

Matt joined the team in November 2023 and quickly built a rapport with the close-knit team here. This is not usual and oftentimes when hiring we go through a number of people before we find the right fit.

If this is the case in this arrest, I view addiction as a disease and I have a heavy heart reporting this to you. There were no signs at the time of hire there was a problem, obviously. I want Matt to get the help he needs.

For you, dear reader, please understand that even if the publisher and owner of San Angelo LIVE! were arrested, I would be in our reporting. The same standard applies to reporters who we employ to deliver you the news, especially breaking news that includes arrests.

We will have more information about this case sometime tomorrow if we can obtain the court documents. Like in all arrest reports, he was arrested on charges and not yet indicted. In the U.S. we presume arrested citizens innocent  until proven guilty in a court of law.

"Examples include: Methadol, cocaine, oxycodone, methamphetamines, ketamine, heroin, Morphine, Fentanyl, Desmoprhine or “Krokodil”, and types of codeine."

Mr. Hyde:

You owe no one here any explanations regarding this matter.  I have experienced my own contact with someone with chemical issues, and my conclusion is simple:  the ultimate responsibility in such cases lies with the offender.

If it seems this person does indeed have a chemical issue, do what you reasonably can supporting him, while reserving energy for your own problems.  After all, you owe him nothing.  Anything you might provide him is out of the goodness of your heart, and not the result of any obligation to him.

I have trod this path, and failed.

I wish you, AND him, the best. I would like to hear of a happy ending to this.

Peace.
