SAN ANGELO, TX - Today at the O.C. Fisher Federal Building, 25 individuals from six different countries officially became U.S. citizens.
The proceedings, split into two ceremonies throughout the day, marked a significant moment for the new citizens and celebrated the diversity that has long been a strength of the nation.
The Honorable Magistrate Judge John R. Parker delivered an address as the guest speaker.
He emphasized the impact of immigration on the American experience, pointing out that many Fortune 500 companies and over half of Silicon Valley owe their existence to the contributions of immigrants.
"Ladies and Gentleman, you are the American dream," Judge Parker said, addressing the newly minted citizens. "You reflect what it means to be American. You are the American experience. Our history of this country is the history of immigration."
Judge Parker underscored the importance of diversity as a strength, noting, "Our differences do make us stronger."
He expounded on the core values that define the American experience—liberty, equality, and justice—asserting that these principles grow stronger when tested by various perspectives.
"What makes us American is our dedication to those ideas, values, and principles that this country was founded on,” he said. “ I am no more American than you are."

PermalinkYou see, as I was running from an ex(?)-mercenary cocaine dealing trafficker who was being pulled on a cart by a squad of hookers down Chadbourne while discharging his sidearm in random directions, a bug flew into my mouth as I was on the phone with police dispatch causing me to expectorate onto the sidewalk, which is a violation.
We both got 6 months probation, so we're stuck here.

PermalinkProstitution? Drugs? Veterans? Probation? When, in all of San Angelo's history, right here in the middle of God's country, have any of these things ever had anything to do with San Angelo? It must be the deleterious effects of this tap water I've been drinking that has affected my mind...
