San Angelo police said that a driver of a Ford F-150 pickup who was distracted by texting and driving caused a three-pickup pile-up on Sherwood Way at approximately 8:20 p.m. Thursday night.
Two Ram pickups were stopped for the red light near Buffalo Wild Wings on the 4200 block of Sherwood Way. In front at the light was a 2004 dually Dodge Ram. Next in line was a late model Ram 1500.
Suddenly, a white Ford F-150 emerged from behind them and rear-ended the second of the Rams stopped at the light, sending it into the back of the dually. The driver of the Ford admitted to texting while driving.
The Ford driver was cited for Failure to Control Speed and for having no insurance. Investigating San Angelo Police Officer John Bouligny indicated that the Ford was a company vehicle and all the company has to do is show proof of insurance to the judge. The driver of the newer Ram in the middle of the crash was cited for having no insurance, and for operating an unregistered vehicle. The 2004 dually Dodge Ram in the front was free and clear of all blame.
The Ram in the front of the line was drivable. The other two pickups were sent to the wrecking yard. No one was injured.
