BROWNWOOD — A drunk Brownwood man has been arrested for animal cruelty after throwing a very small dog into a fire pit.
On Monday, April 17, 2023, Raul Guadalupe Castillo, 49, was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals after he threw a chihuahua into a fire pit at a residence on the 1100 block of Duke Street in Brownwood, Texas.
According to the Brownwood Police Department, on Friday April 14, 2023, at 10:00 p.m., law enforcement was dispatched to the 1100 block of Duke Street regarding an animal cruelty report. Once on scene, officers met with the caller who said she, her husband, and cousin were in her backyard.
The complainant said they were drinking beer and sitting around a firepit. She went into the residence and upon returning she observed her cousin grab her chihuahua and threw the dog into the firepit.
The woman and husband got the dog out of the fire quickly, but it suffered burns to his stomach and paws. The act was unprovoked, and Castillo did not give an explanation. The woman and Castillo began arguing but he walked away from the residence.
Officers did not locate Castillo that day, but a warrant was issued on Monday, April 17, 2023, and Castillo was arrested at his home. Castillo now faces charges of cruelty to non-livestock animals causing serious bodily injury.
The condition of the dog is unknown at this time.

I suggest that this person, while totally sober so he can feel all pain, be thrown into a fire pit appropriate for his size. That would be appropriate justice.
The people whom I most despise are those who abuse children. Second on the list are those who abuse innocent animals.

PermalinkQuestion... does anyone know how this poor little critter is doing now? Should he/she be removed to a safer environment since the current owner, while likely blameless, has at least one monster for a relative?
For some reason this story really bothers me.
