Winter Is Coming. All at Once. Monday Night.

SAN ANGELO – Winter weather is headed to the Concho Valley in the form of high, gusty winds and significant rain Monday and then freezing temperatures by Tuesday night.  Forecast models currently don't show freezing precipitation here but that could change.  

According to meteorologists with the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, a strong upper level disturbance will flow into the region Monday night bringing high winds and a 90% chance of abundant rainfall.  Temperatures are expected to remain above freezing in the lower 40s.  Winds could gust in the 45 to 50 mph range so be prepared. 

By Tuesday, there is a 50% chance of rain in the morning ending around mid day with temperatures staying around 50 degrees.  Tuesday night, the cold front hits and temps will drop to the upper 20s after the precipitation has moved out of the area.  

Look for the remainder of the week to be cool and dry.  

While no frozen precipitation is forecast at this time, gusty high winds, heavy rainfall and near freezing temperatures could cause hazardous driving conditions Monday night through Tuesday morning with minor flooding of city streets and low-lying areas on rural roadways.
