San Angelo City Council Approves Funding Plan for 2 Splash Pads

SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo City Council approved the funding process to construct two splash pads in town during its regular meeting Tuesday.

According to the agenda, on Jan. 17, 2023, council approved a resolution supporting the private fundraising efforts to construct splash pads at City parks. The private fundraising is being led by local irrigation company, All-Tex Irrigation and Supply.

With the approval, All-Tex Irrigation and Supply and the area foundation will raise $848,444.76 to construct two splash pads. One of these will be at Unidad Park while the other will be at Kirby Park. The Kirby Park location will cost around the $300,000 range while the Unidad Park pad will cost around the $250,000 range.

The pad at Kirby park will be larger than the one at Unidad park. It will consist of large items like a bucket drop and trees that shoot water. The pad at Unidad park however will be smaller and will only have water shooting up from the floor.

*Editors note: These initial drafts will change. These are just the beginning stages of planning.

With the approval the city has agreed to let the fundraising begin. All-Tex has already put up $200,000 of the $850,000 needed. With their large donation and for being the spearhead of the project the pads will be named after All-Tex.

Owner of All-Tex Irrigation and Supply Jeff Perrine confirmed during the council meeting that once enough funds are raised they will begin with the smaller project. This is expected to be by 2024.

Someone, somewhere, needs to do something about this.

What will you do when the splash pads are all over the park? What will you do when they're across the street? What will you do when your neighbors are in the splash pad? What will you do when the splash pad is at your front door?

You didn't stop the splash pads because they weren't coming for you. You were wrong. Now radioactive isotopes are shooting from the ground as the splash pad delivers a dose of emergency reservoir water right into your face.

You thought you were safe from death from above. You never suspected you would get splashed on a splash pad.

Interesting choice of entertainment for our parks considering we're in a DROUGHT. But hey let's ignore our surface streets yet again. These idiots don't mind driving on ranch roads 24/7 as long as we have a "blessed" splash pad for their predator bait (kids).

Maybe next we'll see an outbreak of new golf courses with those oh-so-lush fairways and greens, or just maybe a xeriscaped golf course or two.

Splash pads: Harmless fun or vaguely Satanic pattern of water dispersal apertures installed into the ground?

Hmm...
