SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo woman has been arrested after running over her boyfriend in the Giz & Hums parking lot with her SUV after an argument.
According to court documents, on January 8, 2023, San Angelo Police Officers were dispatched to Giz & Hums’ Billiards & Brews, located at 1425 West Beauregard Avenue regarding a major motor vehicle crash. Investigators learned that the man had been struck by a vehicle that had left the scene. The victim was transported to Shannon Medical Center for injuries to his lower extremities.
A sergeant with the San Angelo Police Department said there were multiple car parts and pieces along with a Lincoln vehicle emblem lying on the ground near the scene where the victim was struck. Investigators learned then that a red in color Lincoln Navigator was parked at a residence on the 200 block of East 24th Street that had front end damage and was missing the emblem.
A witness told investigators he observed the suspect, identified as Blanca Cajas, and the victim drinking together at the bar and both left at about 10:15 p.m.
Security footage around 10:15 p.m. that shows Cajas exit Giz & Hums and get into the driver’s side of a red in color Lincoln Navigator. The victim then got into the front passenger side of the vehicle a minute later. A few moments later, the victim exited and walked in front of the vehicle.
Investigators then observed Cajas allegedly back up a few feet, stop, then drive forward, over the curb before striking the victim and a wooden fence. The red Lincoln Navigator then backed up from the parking lot and left the scene without attempting to render aid to the victim.
At Shannon Medical Center, investigators spoke with officers who said the victim was being treated for injuries to his lower extremities. It was learned that the victim had a possible dislocated kneecap and was in the process of getting a CAT scan completed.
Then, investigators drove to the 200 block of East 24th Street and observed a red Lincoln Navigator parked in the driveway. The vehicle was observed to have fresh front end damage and was missing the emblem. Investigators spoke with Cajas who stated that the vehicle belonged to her. Cajas was also wearing the same clothes that she was wearing while at Giz & Hums.
The next day, Investigators spoke with the victim, and it was confirmed he had a dislocated kneecap and was being transported to another hospital for possible internal bleeding. The victim said he and his girlfriend were drinking at Giz & Hums and got into a verbal argument while leaving the bar. Then, the victim told investigators that Cajas was the driver and she intentionally struck him with the vehicle that pushed him into the wooden fence.
Cajas was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (the Lincoln Navigator) on January 11, 2023, at 7:40 a.m. and was released the same day at 12:13 p.m. on $75,000 bond.
