HOUSTON, TX – A number of African American sports talking heads are calling the Houston Texans racist after the organization fired first year head coach Lovie Smith.
The two main people calling for people to stay woke against the Texans are former Washington Redskin QB Robert Griffin III and legendary ESPN analyst Steven A Smith.
Over the past two seasons the Houston Texans have only won seven total games. For these two years they have had two coaches. The first was David Culley while the other was Lovie Smith. Both of these are African American coaches.
The Texans fired both of the coaches after just one season. During the two years the Texans have been in full on tank mode after losing stars like JJ Watt, Deondre Hopkins, and Deshaun Watson to free agency and trades.
On Sunday if they Texans would have lost the game they would've had the number one draft pick. To end the game Smith won the game on a last second drive and 2-point conversion. The decision to not simply let time run out likely effected the decision.
Currently in the NFL there is an affirmative action like rule called the Rooney Rule. The Rooney Rule is a National Football League policy that requires league teams to interview ethnic-minority candidates for head coaching and senior football operation jobs. It is an example of affirmative action, even though before 2022 there was no hiring quota or hiring preference given to minorities, only an interviewing quota.
Do you think the firing and hiring situation in the Texans organization is race related? Comment below.

Forget black or white. What I do know is that if you don't want to get fired, coaching pro football isn't for you. How many coaches do you know who have never been fired?
