Tom Green County Grand Jury Indicted Over 10 Defendants for Crimes Against Children

 

SAN ANGELO – Tom Green County grand juries have indicted over ten defendants for different crimes against children over the last few months.

These individuals were indicted on online solicitation charges, continuous sexual abuse charges, indecency with a child charges, and aggravated sexual assault charges.

All the information below is taken from the arrest affidavits or the indictments of the defendants handed down over the last three months.  

Gerald Martinez was arrested on April 22, 2022, for online solicitation of a child. On April 21, Martinez contacted a Federal Law Enforcement Agent who was acting as a 15-year-old female under the screen name “Britt”. During this contact, Martinez sent a sexually explicit image to “Britt” and arranged to pick her up from school. Investigators learned the agreed meeting location and took Martinez into custody.

Martinez was in court on November 14, 2022, and in exchange for a guilty plea, was given five years deferred adjudication and a $2,500 fine.

Christopher Wilson was booked into the April 22, 2022, for online solicitation of a child after the Department of Public Safety conducted an online solicitation investigation. Wilson was allegedly in contact with an undercover officer and expressed the intention of engaging in sexual contact with child. Then, Wilson acted on this intent by traveling to a prearranged location for the purpose of sexual contact.

Wilson was released on a personal recognizes bond and is due in court on April 3, 2023.

Christopher Rose was arrested on April 22, 2022 for the online solicitation of a minor.  the San Angelo Police Department conducted a special operation focused on online solicitation with the Department of Homeland Security. Rose believed he was in contact with a 15-year-old female. A location and time was arranged on the 1700 block of Sunset Drive where Rose was arrested and he allegedly admitted that his intention was to engage in sexual conduct with a 15-year-old child.

Rose is currently and inmate being held on $45,000 bond.

Matthew Beckett was arrested on April 25, 2022 for online solicitation of a minor. The SAPD and the Department of Homeland Security conducted an operation focused on online solicitation. Beckett allegedly agreed to meet with someone he believed to be a 16-year-old female at the 2100 block of Knickerbocker Road to engage in sexual contact. At the agreed meeting location, Beckett allegedly sped away and was located on April 25 by Special Agents of Goodfellow Airforce Base. When interviewed, Beckett allegedly told the investigator he was only checking on the welfare of 16-year-old.

Juan Gonzalez was arrested on June 11, 2021, after the Department of Public Safety conducted an online solicitation investigation. A special agent was using an undercover profile on an online social media platform. Gonzalez was in contact with the undercover officer before he was told the officer was a minor. He continued and elevated communication and allegedly expressed intent to engage in sexual contact with the minor (undercover officer).

Gonzalez then acted on this intent by going to a prearranged location where he was arrested. On the same date, Gonzalez refused to be interviewed. He was booked and released on $35,000 bond.

Jeffery Dilts was arrested on September 21, 2022 and released the same day. According to the indictments, from August 25, 2014 through May 26, 2017, Dilts allegedly committed two or more acts of sexual abuse against a child younger than 14 years of age.

Dilts was released on $100,000 bond.

Frank Martinez was arrested on for the indictment on September 27, 2022, for sexual contact/indecency with a child who was under the age of 17 at the time of the assault.

Antonio Barron Jr. was arrestd on June 1, 2016 according to the indictment after he caused a child, younger than 17 years of age, to engage in sexual contact.

Tyler Shartle was charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child after allegedly assaulting a child who was younger than the age of 17 two times over the summer of 2021.

Luis Cantu was arrested on June 9, 2022 for continuous sexual abuse of a child, indecency with a child, and aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Cantu allegedly abused several different children from August 1, 2009 through October 1, 2021. Investigators witnessed a forensic interview of a 12-year-old who stated on September 1, 2018, Cantu touched the child’s sexual organ over the clothes. Another child, who was believed to be 6 at the time of the alleged incident, that on August 1, 2009, Cantu sexually abused them.

In October 2005, Cantu allegedly sexually assaulted another child who was under the age of 14 at the time of the assault.

Cantu is currently an inmate in the Tom Green County Detention Facility being held on $500,000 bond.

David Thompson was arrested for sexually abused a child from September 13, 2014 through April 21, 2018. Thompson allegedly abused a child younger than 14 several times during that time period.

Yasias Rodriguez was arrested on April 21, 2022 after the SAPD and the Department of Homeland Security conducted a special operation focused on online solicitation. When the undercover officer was in contact Rodriguez, she told him she was 15 years old to which Rodriguez allegedly said age is just a number. A location was agreed on to meet at where Rodriguez was arrested and he allegedly admitted his intentions were to meet a 15 year old child.

Isaiah Juarez was arrested on September 11, 2022 for aggravated sexual assault of the child. On August 16, 2022, a sheriff’s deputy received an outcry from a 13-year-old child regarding a sexual assault. The victim stated he met a male he believed to be 18 years of age on Snapchat, a social media platform.

The victim identified the defendant as Juarez who performed sexual acts on the victim. While doing so, Juarez allegedly recorded or photographed the victim. Juarez then made threats to release the records or photos. Snapchat was subpoenaed for information regarding Juarez’s account and on September 1, 2022, a search warrant was served to Snapchat to obtain conversations linked to Juarez’s account.

Juarez was released from the Tom Green County Detention Facility on September 12, 2022 on $50,000 bond.

Rodger Moss has been indicted on two charges of aggravated sexual assault. Moss allegedly assaulted a child who was younger than 14 years of age.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
