Group Home Coordinator Arrested for Lewd Assault of Disabled Child

SAN ANGELO – A San Angelo man and group home coordinator was arrested last week for sexually assaulting a disabled individual.

According to court documents, investigators read a San Angelo police officer’s report which regarded a sexual assault. In this report, the officer documented contact that he had with the victim about the allegedly assault. He was told that the defendant, identified as Cory Gaylor, a group home coordinator, had allegedly sexually assault the victim by touching the victim’s sexual organ with his sexual organ.

Investigators spoke with a licensed registered nurse who works at the group home where the victim resides and told the Affiant she learned the victim had been assaulted a couple months ago. The investigator also learned the victim is disabled.

In this case, a “disabled individual” means a person older than 13 years of age who by reason of age or physical or mental disease, defect, or injury is substantially unable to protect the person’s self from harm or to provide food, shelter, or medical care for the person’s self.

A forensic interview was conducted of the victim and investigators heard the victim tell the interviewer he was sexually assaulted by Gaylor. When the investigator spoke with the victim, he said the assault had occurred a couple months ago and that Gaylor had committed these acts on more than one occasion.

Gaylor was arrested for aggravated sexual assault of a child on November 17, 2022 and is currently an inmate at the Tom Green County Detention Facility being held on $200,000 bond.
