SAN ANGELO – Tom Green County Commissioners Tuesday will hold a public hearing to take comments from the public on a planned $262 million solar energy facility and a $70 million battery storage facility in western Tom Green County.
Angelo Solar, LLC is requesting a tax abatement for the planned solar farm in a Tax Reinvestment Zone located in Pct. 3. The land for the project is owned by Queen Bees according to the agenda for the meeting.
The Rambler solar farm located in the same general area went online in July of 2020.
The Rambler solar farm covers about 1,700 acres west of San Angelo. It includes 733,000 bifacial modules. It will produce enough electricity to power about 40,000 homes.
The electricity generated is being sold to an unnamed company under a 15-year power purchase agreement.
About 400 workers were involved in the construction of that solar farm.
According to the Commissioners agenda, the court will convene a public hearing to take public comment and answer questions regarding the County's intent to enter into a proposed tax abatement agreement.
The Tom Green County Commissioners Court meets in regular session at 8:30 Tuesday morning in the Commissioners Court meeting room on the second floor of the Keyes building downtown. That meeting is open to the public.

Except there won't be any crops planted on that field ever again. So no it isn't the same. Nor will it ever be. A charade at best, for those fruitless idiots who think green energy is going to help make fossil fuels extinct.
