Beef Cattle Professionals Gather in San Angelo for Symposium

SAN ANGELO – Angelo State University’s Department of Agriculture will co-host ranchers and cattle industry professionals from across the state for a Beef Cattle Symposium June 16-17 at the San Angelo Fairgrounds and ASU’s Management, Instruction and Research (MIR) Center.

Titled “Profitability and Sustainability in Ranching,” the symposium will feature a day of open forums with specialists from across West Texas on June 16 at the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo, First Financial Bank Pavilion at the fairgrounds. Discussions will include cattle quality, marketing, medicine, rangeland health and more. Over two dozen ranching product vendors will also be on site, and the day will wrap up with a social mixer.

That will be followed on June 17 with a half-day of hands-on learning experiences at the MIR Center, ASU’s 6,000-acre ranch complex located off U.S. Hwy. 87 just north of San Angelo. Activities will include carcass evaluation, spray equipment and application, carbon sequestration and livestock handling.
