Victim Blasted on Affair in Capital Murder Trial

SAN ANGELO, TX — Heated argument in the cross examination of one of the state's key witnesses was heard in Judge Tom Gosset's court on Tuesday, Matthew Salazar's attorney, John Stacey Young, hammered victim Bradley Floyd on the specifics of his affair with Heather Salazar.

Floyd recounted the beginnings of the relationship for the jury, stating the two had begun talking when Mrs. Salazar expressed she was no longer happy in her marriage to Matthew.

"She had started talking about she was not happy and venting a lot..." Floyd said. "I listened to her. She asked me what I thought and I gave her advice."

Floyd stated that the conversations began in July 2013, and the relationship began to blossom two weeks before Salazar entered his house with a .45 caliber handgun on Aug. 31, 2013 and shot and killed his wife, and shot Floyd in the arm.

Salazar had grown suspicious that Floyd and his wife were having an affair a few weeks prior and had sat both of them down to confront him with his suspicions. The physical involvement, Floyd testified, only lasted for two weeks before the shooting. That afternoon, they had had sex for the first time, he said.

In his cross-examination, defense attorney Young repeatedly asked how long the two had been physically involved.

He referenced a trip to Disneyworld in Florida, where his client contends the relationship may have begun.

"You like the fact that you made Matthew look stupid and a fool, didn't you," Young fired, referring back to the confrontation during which Floyd had stated nothing was going on. "You were all over her and she was all over you  and let's just say it, you were doing it, weren't you?"

Floyd, visibly and audibly perturbed by Young's line of questioning, replied, "Not at that time, no."

"Well let's not play Bill Clinton here, buddy," Young fired back.

The questioning continued with many objections from state attorney Bryan Clayton, and at approximately 10:50 a.m., the court recessed for a 20 minute break.

Obsession won't allow one to let go that way. It's a selfish sense of being where the other person's happiness is completely irrelevant. It's a belief that a person can't find a replacement partner, it's truly a destructive behavior.
Most spousal killings are greed motivated. One spouse is in debt and realizes he or she would be happier with money than with thier current partner. It sounds like this guy already had anger issues, he'll get 30 years and be paroled after 5 years since he has no prior violent convictions.
I knew all 3 people involved!! Bought a car from Matt several years ago and he was a big douche bag! I know heather from Sonora and her family and well money talks in that town! ( yes I lived there for several years. & know them all well lived next door to heathers mom snd step dad for 3 years and well their drugies) and Bradley is an ex of my sisters and i know him very well Hes a good guy but just like any guy if its flanted in ur face!!??? All the he said she said is retarded!! Heather and Bradley were having an affair! Matt cought them!!! What's the saying!?!? Play with fire??? Justice will be served in this but maybe just not how it needs to be handled!
"What difference does it make" how long they were sleeping together. It was not heat of passion, he suspected it for some time. It was revenge, obsession, jealousy etc; just pick one. It all boiled down to murdering his wife instead of leaving her and continuing to raise the kids.
I know Heather and Matt both and Matt is a pure douche bag. Heather and Bradley had an affair and Matt says his first wife cheated on him but yet she is still alive so what gave him the right to take Heather's life. I agree with the comment that said it was greed because anyone that knows Matt knows that he is very greedy and he had the philosophy that if he couldn't have Heather then nobody could. All that Matt's greed did was take the life of an awesome mom and friend instead of being a man and divorcing her so that she could continue to raise her 2 precious boys. Those 2 boys lives are changed forever and not for the better. I pray that the jury sees him for what he is and gives him the maximum sentence.Hopefully this trial will help Heather's family to have some closure and move on so that they can be there for the boys and help them to remember their mother with happy memories.
