Context: In His Own Words, Beto O'Rouke on Why He Wants More Gun Control
SAN ANGELO, TX — At the San Angelo VFW Hall on Saturday, May 21, 2022, Texas gubernatorial candidate for the November 8 election was asked why he has taken a hard line on imposing more gun control laws, specifically placing restrictions on ownership of military-like long rifles commonly referred to as 'AR-15s' or 'assault weapons.'
O'Rourke said the mass shooting in El Paso in 2019 was a significant turning point for him. Watch the video above.

Yes, let's elect beto. This is the Texas democrat's dream. beto could make Texas just like Chicago or New York. They are the shinning examples of how democrats fix gun control and stop gun violence. However, it's funny that during a debate with a dem about this subject, they don't want to talk about what the dems have done in New York and Chicago. All they want to talk about is how to blame Republicans. The latest shooting is horrible and things need to be done hopefully to keep this from happening again. Things like censoring the damn internet so that any 12 year old can't fantasize with photos and even instructions about killing anyone that they don't like for whatever reason. Or maybe the video games that any 12 year old can role play where the object is to shoot someone in the face and see blood and brains blow out the back of their head. Of course that interferes with the freedom of speech and we don't want to even think about that. Let's take away guns instead.

PermalinkIt's been a while since I've been in school but seems like I remember something in the Constitution about arms. I seriously doubt any of us here are more intelligent than the folks that decided what would be in that document. People argue that things have changed since it was written. Things may have but people have not. There are still dictators in the world, oppressive governments, violent groups of people and the list goes on. There are and have been gun free countries like Hitler's Germany, China, North Korea, Venezuela and others. I don't see people from all over the world trying to migrate into those countries. There are several reasons this is the greatest country on earth and the right of it's citizens to own guns is just one of them.

PermalinkWell let's see, The article was about beto and gun control. The very first comment on the page (mine) was in reference to beto and gun control. You said in your comment that school shootings only happen here. I may be wrong but, guns seem to be the elephant in the room. We can talk about race cars or the origin of the universe if you had rather.

PermalinkMost events that happen, cannot be narrowed down to one simple reason. A muscle car in the hands of an experienced driver can be fun and safe. A young teenage boy in a nissan can be fun and safe. Put a young teenage boy in a muscle car and it's something bad waiting to happen. Add alcohol or drugs and the danger to him and everyone else increases. If that boy's girlfriend just dumped him he will most likely drive aggressive. If he fights with a parent then probably the same result. The boy crashes and kills himself and maybe others. The next day someone says that wouldn't happened if he wasn't driving a hotrod. The next person says it wouldn't have happened if he wasn't drinking. The next person says his girlfriend dumped him and he was angry. The next blames his fight with his parents or the drugs. The real truth is it was a combination of several things.
You can't blame just guns. You can't blame just the internet, you can't blame just video games or the parents or bullying or not recognizing mental illness or gun control laws or any other one thing. There is no simple reason or explanation. We need to try and address all of the issues not just gun control like that idiot beto.

PermalinkI've tried to be very civil toward you with this entire discussion. All you keep doing is critiquing whatever I say. You don't add anything of your own. It kind of reminds me of a small child that keeps asking why, why, why, why. I think it's time you go bother someone else.
