Abbott Signs $2 Billon Funding Bill to Increase Border Security

AUSTIN, TX ––As an unprecedented number of migrants gather along the Texas border, Governor Abbott signed a new bill that will increase security funding.

“It is the federal government’s job to secure our border, bopen-doorden administration has failed to do its job, so Texas is stepping up to do what the federal government is supposed to do," said Abbott.

The nearly $2 billion bill will include funds to continue the construction of the border wall. This funding bill supplements the $1 billion allocated to border security earlier this year.

"These funds are needed because the Biden Administration's open door policy has opened the flood gates to illegal immigration. To crime. To human trafficking. To drug smuggling," said Abbott. "These funds will help the Texas of Public Safety arrest more people at the border. They will help the National Guard to secure the Texas border. They will increase the funding to build the border wall."
