AUSTIN, TX — Office of the Governor Communications Director Mark Miner today issued a statement after Governor Greg Abbott tested positive for COVID-19 late Tuesday afternoon, August 17.
"Governor Greg Abbott today tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The Governor has been testing daily, and today was the first positive test result. Governor Abbott is in constant communication with his staff, agency heads, and government officials to ensure that state government continues to operate smoothly and efficiently. The Governor will isolate in the Governor's Mansion and continue to test daily. Governor Abbott is receiving Regeneron's monoclonal antibody treatment," Miner stated.
The governor received the Covid vaccine on December 22.
"Governor Abbott is fully vaccinated against COVID-19, in good health, and currently experiencing no symptoms. Everyone that the Governor has been in close contact with today has been notified. Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott tested negative," Miner said.
Health authorities claim that although the vaccine will not prevent "break through" infections for all, it will lesson the severity of the infection. In Japan, a July 30 study found that the Pfizer vaccine lost effectiveness approximately 6.5 months after the first shot. It is not known what brand of shot the governor was given.
According to his Twitter account, the Governor visited with famous Texas musician Jimmie Vaughan earlier today. He spoke at a campaign event in Collin County last night. The left wing Texas Tribune moaned that the campaign rally was "maskless."

PermalinkThe vaccine didn't work. Look at the proof. It's right here on the thread you commented on. Like I said ignorance and self awareness are bad traits.
