WATCH: Celebrating America's Cultura

SAN ANGELO, TX – Since 2001 the group Mariachi Alma Mexicana has been entertaining San Angelo and the Concho Valley with the lively Mexican music influenced by the joys, triumphs, and struggles of the Mexican people.

The group that began with members of the Edison Junior High and San Angelo Central Mariachi Programs will celebrate its 20 year anniversary this year with one of its biggest performances on Saturday.

Watch as members of Mariachi Alma Mexicana talk about what this genre of music has meant to them and their families, a mariachi song that has caught the attention of one of country music's greatest entertainers, and what it means to perform for San Angelo in celebration of America's Independence Day.

On Saturday you can watch Mariachi Alma Mexicana along with the San Angelo Community Band, West Texas Jazz Orchestra, The Air Force Band of the West, and Forever Mac (a Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band) perform live at the Star-Spangled Banner Concert at the Bill Aylor Memorial Riverstage.

The performances will begin at 6:30 pm. A live stream of the event will also be provided and can be seen on San Angelo LIVE.

If I was making a mix tape of all the different music I liked, mariachi would be in it !
