San Angelo Man Indicted for Trying to Take Officer's Firearm

SAN ANGELO,TX – Eric Owen Pounds has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for attempting to take a firearm from a police officer during an arrest.

On March 14th, 2021, SAPD responded to Clark’s Auto Parts and Wrecker Service, located at 901 North Cecil Street, for a possible burglary.

According to court documents, a witness told responding officers that Pounds was possibly drunk. One of the officers made contact with Pounds a block away from Clark’s Auto.

SAPD told Pounds he was not free to leave but began to walk out into oncoming traffic on Hughes Street. This caused the traffic to stop and showed Pounds was a danger to himself and possibly others.

Pounds was non-compliant with officer’s commands and began resisting arrest once officers had begun taking him into custody.

During the arrest, Pounds attempted to take one of the officer’s firearms out of his duty belt but the officers were able to get Pounds away from the firearm and they eventually took Pounds into custody.

Pounds was booked on March 14th, 2021 and is still an inmate in the TGCDF. Pounds bond is $10,000.00.

What a handsome boy. I'd love for my daughter to bring him home to meet my family for a Sunday dinner, that way he could be taken out for a ride and never seen or heard from again..... :-) :-)
