AUSTIN, TX — Texas Mission of Mercy (TMOM), a mobile dental clinic that delivers pain-relieving dental care at no cost to underserved Texans, is coming to San Angelo on June 4-5, 2021. TDASF has teamed up with the First United Methodist Church to provide this service to the community.
According to the American Dental Association, many adults do not have access or qualify for programs that provide needed dental care, which leads to more serious health problems due to the untreated dental issues.
The Texas Dental Association Smiles Foundation (TDASF) is working to address this need. With our Texas Mission of Mercy (TMOM), a mobile dental clinic that hosts 4 events across Texas each year, we are working to provide appropriate dental care. TDASF’s mission is to improve access to dental care to the underserved of Texas and educate the public and profession about the importance of oral health.
“Our volunteer dental professionals’ primary focus is on relieving pain and preventing infection by providing extractions and fillings. We are truly grateful to provide this level of care as we come out of the global pandemic. People are in pain and our volunteers are helping them heal.,” said Judith Gonzalez, Director of TDASF.
More than 30 volunteer dentists and 150 volunteers from the dental profession, businesses, and community groups will provide charitable care to community of San Angelo and its surrounding area. The services, which are free of cost, include basic, pain-relieving and preventive procedures such as dental fillings and extractions. The last time TMOM held an event in San Angelo was in 2017, where 544 patients were treated. Due to the new guidelines, restrictions and social distancing, organizers expect to see fewer patients but provide more treatment and make a significant impact per person.
Due to COVID-19, all patients must be prescreened for the event. Prescreenings will continue to take place Friday, June 4th from 9am to 3pm. Patients just need to show up at First United Methodist Church, 37 E. Beauregard through front gate entrance for prescreening check-in. Once prescreened, patients will be given an appointment and receive their services on Saturday June 5th.
Pre-Screened patients should plan to arrive half an hour early for their scheduled appointments on either Friday, June 4th or Saturday, June 5th at First United Methodist Church. We will not be taking any walk-up patients on Saturday at this time.
TMOM is a program of the Texas Dental Association Smiles Foundation (TDASF) and supported by the Texas Dental Association. Since 2001, TDASF has held 75 mission events throughout Texas, providing care to more than 45,000 patients. For information or to volunteer, please visit www.tdasf.org.

Saying something the day of is ridiculous. How can you expect to maximize reach when telling people last second? There’s obviously a lack of communicating it further as it appeared to not be widely messaged elsewhere also. Just sad.
