SAN ANGELO, TX – Officials confirmed Friday that so far only one percent of registered voters in San Angelo have cast their ballots during early voting.
According to the Tom Green County Elections Administrator, as of 9:30 a.m. on Apr. 23, only 988 ballots had been cast during early voting for the May 1 election.
During the presidential election in November 2021, the elections office reported that there were 70,055 registered voters in Tom Green County. At the end of early voting last November, there had been 27,372 ballots cast. During the presidential election, 39.07% of registered voters made it to the polls during early voting. So far during this election only 1.41% of citizens have voted.
In this election there are a number of seats up for grabs including the Mayor of San Angelo, a number of school board member seats, and two city council seats.
Early voting for the May 1 election ends on Tuesday, Apr. 27. That means there are only a few days left to vote early.
To early vote visit the elections office inside of the Keyes building in Downtown San Angelo from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
