WATCH: Fuel Tank Ruptured in Dangerous 18-wheeler Crash

SAN ANGELO, TX – The driver of a small red passenger car escaped injury Friday when an 18-wheeler ran a red light at the intersection of 19th St. and N. Bryant Blvd.

According to San Angelo Police Department Traffic Division investigating officer Younts, the red passenger vehicle was stopped at the red light eastbound on 19th St. and the 18-wheeler was southbound on Bryant.

Watch video from the crash scene:

Witnesses say the light for the 18-wheeler turned red and the driver was unable to stop.  The red passenger car had the right of way and pulled into the intersection and struck the 18-wheeler in the fuel tank.  The diesel tank ruptured and fuel spilled onto the roadway.

No one was injured and the spill was contained by firefighters.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way.
