SAN ANGELO, TX – City of San Angelo officials have now announced that all city and county parks will be closed nightly through mid-July.
All City of San Angelo and Tom Green County parks and recreation areas will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for all purposes, including overnight camping.
This order takes effect at midnight on Friday, June 26, 2020 and will extend until midnight July 13, 2020.
Here is the order:
I, Dr. James Vretis, Tom Green County Public Health Authority, pursuant to Texas Health and Safety Code §81.082, hereby issue the following control measure order:
All City of San Angelo and Tom Green County parks and recreation areas shall be closed from 10 PM to 6 AM for all purposes, including overnight camping. This order shall be effective at 12:00 am on Friday, June 26, 2020 and shall continue until 12:00 a.m. on July 13, 2020.
A FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS ORDER SHALL SUBJECT EACH PERSON IN VIOLATION TO COURT ACTION AND WILL CONSTITUTE A CLASS B MISDEMEANOR PURSUANT TO §81.087 OF THE TEXAS HEALTH AND SAFETY CODE. SUCH COURT ACTION MAY INCLUDE APPLICATION FOR A COURT ORDER TO AUTHORIZE LAW ENFORCEMENT TO USE REASONABLE FORCE TO SECURE THE PROPERTY, AND TO PREVENT INDIVIDUALS FROM ENTERING THE PROPERTY. SEE §81.084(L).

Trump himself must be making all these stupid regs. Yes, overnight stays in parks is causing the spread. Idiots! But hey the economy is chugging along. It's just a small price to pay.

Permalinkwhere was vretis during the protests 2-3 weeks ago when everybody was laying side by side at city hall and marching and shouting elbow to elbow?
i respect the protests but you can't willfully ignore the fact that it helped cause the massive spread at this point.
besides who voted for vretis to make these decrees? the city council cant keep letting one man make all these rules. they need to pass it through legislation properly.
besides, per his decree up there it seems you can be fined or arrested for gathering- but didn't Abbott already state you can't be arrested or fined for such things?
