Man Beaten and Hospitalized for Being Republican

SAN ANGELO, TX – A 34-year-old San Angelo man was arrested Tuesday after police say he assaulted his roommate for being a Republican.

According to the affidavit, on June 2, officers with the San Angelo Police Department were dispatched to Shannon Medical Center for the report of an aggravated assault.

When the officers arrived they met with the victim who informed them about how he landed in the hospital. He told them it began earlier that night at their home on the 3800 block of Honeysuckle Ln. The victim claims that his roommate Benjamin Miller, 34, was upset with him about the current state of affairs in the media.

The victim also told police the Miller blamed him because he was a Republican. After the initial incident Miller left the home.

When he returned he kicked in the victim's door which was locked at the time and began to beat him. The affidavit states that the assault occurred unabated for approximately 30 minutes. During the assault Miller is accused of stating multiple times that he was going to kill the victim.

The victim stated to officers that he believed the only reason Miller stopped was because he got tired.

The victim suffered multiple fractured bones because of the assault.

A warrant was then issued and SAPD officers arrested Miller. He was then booked into the Tom Green County Jail for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and three MISC CPF. His bond is set at $40,000.

why wasn't he charged with attempted murder??

WTH is wrong with the judge that issued these charges?! LIVE!, you need to expose who decided that this crazed snowflake be charged with aggravated assault, instead of attempted murder!!! Why was bond set at $40,000 instead of $500,000?! We deserve answers as to why this piece of trash will probably be walking the streets by Saturday!

Good thing he couldn't drive his car through the apartment. He would have succeeded in killing him. Violence is never the answer.

This is (probably) a three bedroom house as most the houses on this block happen to be ranch homes. I agree, Old Salt, that violence is never the answer. Defense, yes. Too bad the victim wasn't near a cast iron skillet!

Progressives/liberals/snowflakes/Democrats have the same problem with anger. Most are uneducated and very emotional leading to hate and racism. I can’t understand their opinions without facts But they’re very easily rattle by their own insecurities. Poor parenting and liberal education has produced them. It’s become a horror movie with them to assault and ridicule others with no peaceful debate

You name "Progressives/liberals/snowflakes/Democrats" as having problems with anger. You are blind and not terribly bright if you think these are the only ones! Anger management has no affiliation to gender, race, nationality, age, or monetary values. I agree there is some relation to poor parenting but also some persons are mentally ill and family, education, and community status have no bearing on how they became this way. But education of those dealing with the mentally ill can change the outcomes!

The perpetrator of a hate crime targets a victim merely because he or she belongs to a certain social group, usually defined by race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, nationality, age, gender, gender identity, or political affiliation.
