SAN ANGELO, TX – On the afternoon of February 29, officers with the San Angelo Police Department were dispatched to a residence on W. 21St. following the report of a sexual assault that occurred involving a minor.
A forensic interview with the victim was conducted where a juvenile informed an officer the suspect may have recorded the assault on his cellphone.
Indictment reports indicate that on the afternoon of February 29, 2020 the suspect was identified as, 18-year-old Sergio Ray Mendoza, intentionally and knowingly engaged in sexual intercourse with a victim that was under the age of 17-years-old.
After admitting to the allegations, written consent was given by Mendoza allowing authorities to search the cellphone for evidence where six videos were recovered showing the defendant engaged in sexual intercourse with the 14-year-old victim.
Mendoza was arrested at the scene and later booked into the Tom Green County Jail where he has been held on two counts of Sexual Assault of a Child carrying a total of $30,000 in bond.
As of May 12, Sergio Mendoza was indicted by a Tom Green County Grand Jury on two charges of Sexual Assault Child, which are Second Degree Felonies in the state of Texas that carry penalties including two to twenty years imprisonment and fines not to exceed $10,000.00.
On May, 30, Mendoza posted bail and was released from the Tom Green County Jail.

18 and 14, that's not unreasonable nor unrealistic and 100 years ago it was common. What wasnt common 100 years ago was people having multiple partners at 1 time. And for those who think the 14 year old didn't have multiple partners wellllll you're being awfully naive.

PermalinkLots of 14 and 15 year olds are actively looking to hook up. But if one half of the couple is 18 or older, that's a felony. I could never convict an 18 y/o male who succumbs to the solicitations of a 16 y/o girl on a sexual assault or rape charge.
