Why Tenants Shouldn't Take Eviction Ban Lightly
SAN ANGELO, TX -- If not paying your rent during this COVID-19 pandemic has crossed your mind you might want to think again. Although the Texas Supreme Court extended its moratorium on evictions on Monday, April 6 from April 20 to April 30 the rent is still due.
At this time tenants cannot be evicted during the month of April unless the order is extended by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
In fact, the only way a tenant can face eviction according to the Texas Supreme Court is if the action of the occupants, "pose an imminent threat of (i) physical harm to the plaintiff, the plaintiff's employees, or other tenants, or (ii) criminal activity."
In the video piece, Aaron Nelson of Dierschke and Dierschke Realtors along with Tom Green County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Eddie Howard talk about the local impact of rent payments due to the coronavirus and the trickle-down effect of not making rent payments means during this pandemic.

What these moron landlords fail to realize is that nobody in San Angelo makes a lot of money. The oilfield is now laid off & retail is closed with ZERO dollars coming in. There is next to no other industry in this town. They can try to evict people, but there is no one waiting to take over their over priced slum houses. I know how Nelson treats tenants & I think it’s time he starves!
