WATCH: COVID-19 Clears the Main Stage
SAN ANGELO, TX – As bars and restaurants across Texas have shut down because of the Coronavirus, a number of exotic dancers are out of a job and Lace Ministries is here to help.
Governor Greg Abbott shut down all bars as of March 20 and with that a number of bartenders and waitresses are out of a job. Many organizations have come together to help not only those in the food industry but everyone who has lost work during the pandemic.
One group that seemed to be left out was those who worked in the sex industry. This is where Lace Ministries came in to help. "We all love working with the women, ministering to them, and being with them when they have needs, said Jaz James founder of and executive director of Lace Ministries. "I think the hardest part is funding, having the finances to do what they need, and being able to provide to them in the way they need when things come up. "
Desiree's Preferred Gentlemen's Club in San Angelo closed it's doors and now the dancers are out of work with no way of earning anymore. "I would say it's difficult just for the fact that a lot of girls aren't educated on how to file for unemployment," said Kara Walker dan cer at Desiree's. "It's difficult because we don't have many options to work right now."
Jaz and her team have provided groceries and cleaning supplies but as the days go by without the club open they only expect more will need help.
"Some women live in hotels so we have to figure that out for them and find somewhere a little more permanent." said James. "It runs the gambit of whatever issue that could be related to this and it's out there with the population we work with."
The mission of Lace Ministries is to display the love of Christ through no-strings-attached relationships with those in the adult entertainment industries, either still working or no longer in the business, but in need of support. This includes strip clubs, drag shows, porn venues, and escorts. Lace Ministries desires to facilitate restoration to Christ as well as create awareness and provide education within the Texas communities of San Angelo, Abilene, Midland/Odessa, Lubbock and Amarillo, and in Northern Mexico.

Not worried about the dancers, most have another source of income that has never paid much attention to social distancing.

Permalink..you're painting these ladies with, Cajun. I've known of a few who've actually dabbled in that ''source of income'', though they're in a very small minority within these circles.
That's not to disparage those who've taken up this trade, be it full or part time. As the hood colloquialism reminds us, ''Ho's gotta eat too!''
