OPINION — Protecting our citizens is the City of San Angelo’s number one priority right now. As the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread across the world, it is crucial that we take steps to ensure the health of our community and the effectiveness of local health care providers.
While we have enacted certain measures, it is up to each and every citizen to do their part to limit the spread of COVID-19.
We strongly encourage people to avoid groups larger than 50. The smaller, the better. At this time, we are not asking businesses or restaurants to shut down, but we do ask that you use caution and distance yourself from others in public.
Wash your hands for 20 seconds, don’t touch your face, limit your contact with others and stay home if you feel sick. Do not hoard groceries – save some for others. Offer to run necessary errands for your elderly neighbor. If you think you’re sick, then stay away from others for 14 days. Even if you don’t think you’re sick, try to stay six feet away from others.
There are so many things you can do to help. It’s going to take everyone to put an end to the spread of this pandemic. We ask you to step up and play your part. Let’s not risk anything. Together we will get through this.
