SAN ANGELO, TX – Texas Department of Public Safety troopers have confirmed the death of a woman who was airlifted to Shannon Monday after a rollover crash.
As previously reported, on March 2, troopers with the Department of Public Safety were alerted of a crash on US Highway 183 just south of the railroad trestle near Zephyr. Here is the original story: Mother and Four Children Flown to Shannon After Rollover Crash
When the troopers arrived they found a vehicle that had driven off of the roadway into an embankment.
Ambulances were immediately called in due to there being multiple children in the vehicle. One of them was ejected as well as the driver. They were first taken to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center, but were then airlifted to Shannon Medical Center.
Family members confirmed multiple children where released the Brownwood Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. The child who was in the front seat has since been flown to Cook's Children Hospital in Ft. Worth.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has informed us that the mother, Angela New, 34, of Early, was pronounced dead at the Shannon Medical Center.
Further investigation revealed the driver was on the way to take her children to school. When approaching the trestle the driver swerved her Chevrolet Tahoe to the right to avoid rear-ending a vehicle in front of her.
The Tahoe went through the guardrail, traveled down and embankment and rolled several times.
