SAN ANGELO, TX –The Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas (CLEAT) recently announced its support for J. Nick Hanna in his campaign in the Republican primary for Tom Green County Sheriff according to a press release from his campaign Tuesday.
In its endorsement letter, CLEAT wrote:
“Dear Nick: Because of your commitment to law enforcement and your public position regarding issues that will impact the rank and file officers of the state, the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, or CLEAT, has endorsed your candidacy for Tom Green County Sheriff.
“Your dedication to protecting the public and history of representing the brave and courageous men and women of Texas law enforcement has guided our proud endorsement of your campaign.”
CLEAT is the largest police officers’ union in Texas, the largest legal services provider in the state specializing in representing law enforcement officers, and the largest confederation of local police officers’ associations in Texas. CLEAT is the state’s most powerful advocate for the rights of law enforcement professionals.
Hanna also has received the endorsement of Tom Green County Sheriff David Jones and the San Angelo Police Officers PAC.
Early voting for the March 3 primary begins Feb. 18. The winner in the Republican primary will be the next sheriff because there is not a candidate for sheriff in the Democrat primary.
