SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo man turned himself in after learning SAPD had published a viral surveillance video of a suspect stealing a Bluetooth speaker from a Southland residence.
According to SAPD, the 19-year-old suspect returned the stolen item and then went to the Police Department Headquarters to speak with authorities. During an interview with a Criminal Investigations Division Detective, the suspect disclosed that he had been inside the victim’s yard doing construction work while employed by a contractor.
The video of the theft was shared on the Neighbors by Ring app and posted to the San Angelo Police Department’s Facebook page shortly after the investigation began on Monday, December 2, 2019. Within an hour of the post, the Department began receiving tips naming the suspect. The suspect made the decision to turn himself in after a friend advised him that authorities had footage of the theft.
The investigation has been referred to the County Attorney’s Office for review.
