Fire on Paint Rock Road Destroys Car Repair Shop

SAN ANGELO, TX — A fire at what appeared to be an auto repair shop on Paint Rock Road at Simpson Street was brought under control by the East Concho Volunteer Fire Department by 10 p.m. Thursday evening. The two-building complex, with the larger building featuring four overhead doors, likely houses vehicle repair bays.

The address, 2750 Paint Rock Road, indicates the business operating there was Remasters Garage, according to the yellow pages database.

Watch:

Our reporter at the scene saw a great amount of firefighting foam all over the structures that were wrapped in crime scene tape. There was a burned-up Chevy Corvette in front of one of the four bays of the larger building.

By the time we arrived, the fire was extinguished and the volunteers were packing up.

This property is located just outside the City of San Angelo city limits sign and is an unexpected carve-out of county land located across Paint Rock Road from Goodfellow Air Force Base. At previous fires on county land in this area, the volunteer fire departments serving the county have handled fighting fires here, just like this fire was. San Angelo Fire Department is available should the fire grow in magnitude prompting the VFD to ask for mutual support. They didn't need it this time.

The building appeared heavily damaged from flames and smoke.

LOL..... Back in the "good old days" when San Angelo Live was new and was instrumental in just about shutting down San Angelo Standard Times by having reporters on the ground and reporting news live as it happened here in town, Now fast forward to today, we get this sort of coverage or more likely, whatever can be read online from other news stories across Texas and a copy/paste of that out of town news onto San Angelo Live's news coverage so that nobody has to get out of their chair to go out and actually report on anything local happening in our little old San Angelo town...........
