The Painter's Feud

SAN ANGELO, TX -- A man was arrested Thursday after allegedly cutting a coworker's head with a painter's tool.

According to the affidavit signed by Justice of the Peace Eddie Howard, on October 31, an officer with the San Angelo Police Department was flagged down at the Desert Shadow Apartments on the 4100 block of W Loop 306.

The officer states in the affidavit that the man waving him down was bleeding from him head and was taken to Community Hospital for treatment.

After speaking with the victim and the accused, the officer determined that prior to arriving the two were remodeling an apartment at the complex. During the workday, the two got into a physical altercation where the victim claims 47-year-old Toney Duren used a 5-in-1 sharp edge painting tool.

After Duren began swinging the tool, the victim attempted to stop him by tackling Duren. He then was able to get off the ground where he then placed his foot on Duren's chest.

While in the dominant position, the victim realized that he was bleeding from his head so he left to find the supervisor.

Duren is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and his bond is set at $35,000

...as details emerge. It's always interesting to hear the completely hilarious reasons behind the squabbles and physical altercations of barflys, druggies, women and manual laborers.

Those incorrigible manual laborers. So much more interesting since the rich are 20 times more likely to stay out of jail. We need that incarceration payoff, am I right?
