Cavender's Boot City is Coming to San Angelo

The City of San Angelo reports on their Public Information Facebook page, that Cavender’s Boot City has been issued permits to build a retail store at 2520 Southwest Boulevard.

The location is situated in the same block where several new hotels are being built, at the intersection of Southwest and the Houston-Harte Expressway service road.

The City reports the permits are for a $2 million construction project.

According to information on the company's website, James R. Cavender opened his first western-wear store in the east Texas town of Pittsburg in 1965. Today, the retail chain operates 62 stores in several states, with 50 inside Texas.

The company's corporate headquarters are located in Tyler. Hoover’s reports that the privately held Cavender’s Boot City has annual sales of $39.9 million and employs 700 people nationwide.

Several locally-owned western-wear stores in San Angelo will face competition from this larger retailer. Our sponsor, Blair’s Western Wear, is located four blocks away, and around the corner, at 4230 Sherwood Way. Mr. Boots is in the Village Shopping Center on W. Beauregard Avenue, and Bill’s Man Shop is downtown on Beauregard.

Reportedly, the store will be open by the end of the year.

While competition is always a good thing, I doubt this will have a huge impact. I've shopped at Cavender's and I still buy jeans and boots when I come back to San Angelo. If you want to dress like Jason Aldean or those other spares then you'll like Cavender's.
It's about time, been needing this for years! Associates at Blair's are so rude, won't shop there anymore. Maybe prices will be a bit more competitive now.
So glad to see a great company with a wonderful inventory come in to San Angelo. The Midland store is wonderful
