DEL RIO, TX -- The international bridge was temporarily closed today following a demonstration in Ciudad Acuna.
According to a CBP spokesperson on July 16 the Customs and Border Patrol Agents agents and the Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers temporarily shut down the international bridge due to a demonstration in Acuna.
More than 350 people gathered in the park and the because of that CBP had to temporarily shut down the bridge.
The bridge was closed at 9:05 a.m. and was later reopened at12:16 p.m.

PermalinkA "demonstration" in that area, is more than likely a group of unkempt riff raff, protesting the legality and formalities of immigration detention, which they assume shouldn't apply to anyone who breaks the law and enters illegally.
It's kind of like the clowns you see on the TV show "Lockup": "I'm doing 30 years for aggravated assault...and all they gave me was this 6 x 8 cell!!"

PermalinkIf even the slightest bit of investigative reporting were to have been done in this case, it would have been clear that this was no riot. I live in Del Rio and am involved n the border situation. The group which came together to peacefully protest by the port of entry were demanding to speak to the head of the CBP to receive an update on their asylum hearing case. Some have not even been given a date in 3 months. No riot, no one was trying to forcefully gain entry. This article needs to be updated, or removed.
