SAN ANGELO, TX -- The Howard College EMS program has purchased a simulation ambulance to aid in training first responders and paramedics in the Tom Green County and surrounding areas.
According to information from Howard College, the majority of these students are new recruits hired by the San Angelo Fire Department. According to Program Chair Travis Hunter, “the simulated ambulance is a bridge from classroom training to real ambulance runs.” Mr. Hunter poses real-world scenarios for the students, so they understand how to work and treat patients while in the confined spaces of the ambulance. The acquisition of this simulated ambulance offers students hands-on skills training prior to doing clinicals out in the field.
Howard College strives to provide the best educational opportunities possible to the local paramedic students, in order to provide the citizens of Tom Green and surrounding counties knowledgeable and well-prepared paramedics. For the last three years, the program has had a 100% pass rate on the NREMT Skills exam and an 89% pass rate on the NREMT Cognitive Test.
The Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs conducted a peer review in 2018 for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoA EMSP) and CAAHEP’s Board of Directors recognized the program’s substantial compliance with the nationally established accreditation Standards and awarded the program continued accreditation through 2023.
The EMS program is one of ten health profession programs available at Howard College. For those interested in a career in as health profession, visit HowardCollege.edu and let Howard College help you make your dreams a reality.

If they want realism, put the simulator on an earthquake simulator.
