POLICE: Man Shot and Killed During Targeted, Forced Home Invasion of Southwest San Angelo Apartment

SAN ANGELO, TX — Just before midnight Friday night, San Angelo police were dispatched to an apartment complex on San Angelo’s southwest side for a reported shooting.

Details are sketchy at the scene, but crime scene tape has been deployed. The tape usually means police are investigating a crime, not a suicide. Over the police radio as we were traveling to the scene at Sedona Ranch Apartments, 2901 Sunset Dr., we heard dispatchers describe a male with a single gunshot wound in the head. Dispatchers added that the “subject is down.” The police spokeman said the victim fell to gunshot "wounds" indicating more than one shot was fired and hit the subject.

WATCH - The crime scene:

As a police K9 unit searches an area nearby, police seem to be investigating an upstairs apartment.

“Early indications is that this is a targeted home invasion and the resident used deadly force in the situation,” said Sgt. Travis Griffith, spokesman for the San Angelo Police Department.

“The first arriving units arrived to find one male subject deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. The investigation is still very fluid at this time, however early indications are this is a targeted home invasion and the resident used deadly force,” he said. “This investigation is in its infancy and there are many moving parts. More information will be released as soon as it is available.”

Why rob an apartment? Why rob from the second floor? Why so many gunshots? Did other suspect get any gunshots? How did you know they were about to rob you? Maybe they/he was set up.
